The Route
Day 1
Lisboa exceptional natural light, which has long inspired writers, photographs and filmmakers. The brightly colored buildings, the striking ochre of the roofs, the tiling facades and the narrow twisting alleys bestow Lisboa with the peculiar atmosphere of a city perched somewhere between the European north and the Mediterranean south.
Day 2
The vast estuary in front of Lisboa’s eastern zone is classified as a Nature Reserve. During the migration season, the estuary receives over 120,000 birds. Ride along the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park and find the world’s largest and most important collection of sauropod dinosaur footprints from the mid Jurassic period.
Day 3
Travel back in time and discover a 17th century Convent transformed into a modern and elegant 21st hotel. Sertã area has a rich heritage of great historical and architectural importance. This is the ideal location for exploring Portugal´s famous slate villages, the Aldeias do Xisto.
Day 4
Ride Serra da Estrela, an area of rare landscape beauty, with striking mountain drops, where you can have a deep experience of the silence of the heights. At 1,993 metres at its highest point in Torre, Serra da Estrela is the perfect sportive challenge. Run the mountains, the plateaus, the valleys – a magical place with castles and raianas.
Day 5
From Serra da Estrela to Pinhão, cycle in a region where farming is still by far the most important activity, particularly famous for its chestnut production. From hot springs to rural world, countryside, nature, secular traditions and local gastronomy. Stay at The Vintage House, an idyllic riverside location in the heart of the Douro Valley.
Day 6
The Douro Valley could as easily be called the enchanted valley, such is the beauty and magic that its landscapes offer. The Douro Wine Region Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. Visit one of the oldest, emblematic and well-known wineries of the Douro region and enjoy a true combination of Douro traditional flavors.
Day 7
The Douro Wine Region Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. This region of schist mountains, with poor, harsh soils, was transformed by the actions of the men who planted the vineyards step by step. End your day, looping across Porto and its tiled buildings, old churches and medieval walls.
Day 8
Time to go home and feel the exclusive Portuguese Word – Saudade. Check-out and transfer to Porto International Airport.
